Tom Gillham
I create vibrant paintings using expressive mark marking which reflects both the physical world and elements of an internal mindscape. My colour palette varies dependent on the weather, sunlight, and my mood. I am most relaxed working in my art studio or life drawing, reflecting the beautiful imperfections of human diversity and the wonderful assortment of body shapes. I use mixed media to create vibrant landscape, abstracts, and semi-figurative pictures to celebrate natural environments that contain manmade features. I use mixed media combining oil and acrylic paintings, with linocut prints, ink, pastels, and pencil, to overlay and juxatopse images to realise depth, rich textures and produce happy accidents. My art is a way to share feelings, concepts, and experiences that are difficult to express in words. You may see me walking on the downs, along local beaches, or through town, I often photograph or sketch things of interest which may develop in my studio and find its way on to a canvas and maybe into your home.
